I'm sure most people have heard the song "Pumped Up Kicks" by now. I bet most people even like it for its base line and its nearly unintelligible lyrics. I used to. I still like it, I just like it for a slightly different reason. Here are a few lines from the song.
Robert's got a quick hand. He's looking 'round the room, he won't tell you his plan. He's got a rolled cigarette, hanging out his mouth he's a cowboy kid. Yeah. He found a six shooter gun in his dad's closet with a box of fun things, I don't even know what. But he's coming for you, yeah, he's coming for you.
Interesting, right? Now go listen to this song with an open mind, paying close attention to the lyrics. Pretty eerie, right? I used to only like this song for it's really beast base line and catchy chorus. I looked at the lyrics written down, and suddenly I liked this song for having such a nice base line, a catchy chorus, and faking everyone out with the pop sound and really not very decent lyrics. I can't wait to hear more songs by Foster the People.
Do you like the song "Pumped Up Kicks"? Did you know about the interesting lyrics already? (I'm sure some people already knew them.) Are you glad you know the lyrics? Do you wish you didn't know the lyrics?
